LARGE INTESTINE AND PERIANAL DISEASES

The large intestine, or colon, absorbs water and electrolytes from indigestible food matter and forms and expels feces. It includes the cecum, colon, rectum, and anal canal. Perianal diseases, affecting the area around the anus, include hemorrhoids (swollen veins causing discomfort and bleeding), anal fissures (painful tears in the anal lining), abscesses (pus collections), and fistulas (abnormal connections between the anus and surrounding skin). These conditions can cause significant discomfort and require proper diagnosis and treatment to manage symptoms and prevent complications.
